Installation of ducting conduits at land fall for subsea AC cable.
This landfall installation was executed on behalf of Roadbridge for the Seagreen Offshore Wind farm.
The works involved designing a temporary works structure and permanent works ducting to facilitate the pull in of the subsea cables.
Scope of activities:
- Preparation of prelim proposals and presentation to project sponsors and stakeholders
- Management of temporary and permanent works design as Principle Designer
- Programme development and cost estimating
- Execution of works in North Sea Winter conditions
- Reinstatement and repair of revetment post duct installation
Problems that we coped with thanks to the experience of our employees
Original approved method was a HDD landfall. However, we made presentations of open cut method to obtain stakeholder approval. Utilising our unique marine and utilities background, we were able to convince the employer and planning authorities that the open cut method would be environmentally safe and that the existing failed revetment would be repaired thus ensuring long term stability of the landfall area. Our re engineered solution resulted in significant savings for the client.
